How one friendship changes your world

Young and naive, i was striving to improve the world: “I will build a machine to make everyone immortal”. It’s quite funny when i look back. I was fearful of people dieing, and it all started with my grandfather.

The truth is, i was an isolated, bullied and lonely boy. My parents put me in the cocoon of ignorance, and i was trapped, i didn’t know what was wrong.

My heart burn’t of fear everyday: Fear of the world changing, fear of having lower grades, fear of the professor yelling, fear of being criticized, fear of being alone in class breaks.

I dream’t about a perfect world. A perfect life. It’s indeed funny when i look back. What does it mean to be in a perfect world, when you don’t even know who you are? I was lost within myself, i didn’t yet find who i was.

How can the impossible be possible?

The game changed, when out of luck, i met a person. I was in the middle of studying medicine, in attempts to find immortality solutions (ahah). And out of boredom, i started talking with Zhao. She was in the other side of the world, but we still found each other in a learning language app.

Surprisingly, what she taught me, broke my black and white world. “if this world was only random particles, it would be so cruel. I would rather not live”. It never crossed my mind! What was the point of striving for a cruel world?

Just like a growing flower, i grew. I learn’t about what makes me happy, i learn’t about what it means to be me. My heart turned fear into courage, i quit school, i left my parents, and i came to visit my friend.

This friend introduced me to more friends, and i was quite amazed on how they related to my struggles. This network of people i am right now, made me realize i am actually a sane person. They understood me and allowed me to express myself fully. My ideas, my theories and my feelings, everything i have.

All it takes is a single friendship, out of 7.5 billion people on earth. Right now i am excited and i am building a software to help more people meet their soulmates. It’s a mind mapping / six degree of separation technique to reach any person. It’s called SpreadBig.
